Modern Chocolate Frosting

A simple and delicious chocolate frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies. This recipe uses melted chocolate for a rich, deep flavor and is easily adaptable to your desired consistency.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Semi-sweet chocolate (Use good quality chocolate for best flavor.)
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons Hot water
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar (Add more or less to reach desired consistency.)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1In a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler), melt the chocolate. Be sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir occasionally until smooth.
  2. 2Remove the bowl from the heat. Add the butter and hot water to the melted chocolate and stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. 3Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition, until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. 4Let the frosting cool slightly before using, if desired. This will help it thicken up a bit.
