Modern Brewis
A simple and comforting dish made from stale bread, milk, and butter. Perfect for a quick and easy meal.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups Stale Brown Bread (Cut into small pieces)
- 0.5 cup Stale White Bread (Cut into small pieces)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Divided)
- 0.75 cup Milk
- 0.75 cup Water
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
Instructions
- 1Break stale bits or slices of brown and white bread into small pieces, allowing one and one-half cups brown bread to one-half cup white bread.
- 2Butter a hot frying-pan with 1 tablespoon of butter, put in bread, and cover with equal parts milk and water. Cook until soft, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3Add remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and salt to taste. Serve immediately.
