Mint and Fruit Punch
A refreshing mint and fruit punch, perfect for summer gatherings. This recipe combines a homemade mint syrup with fruit juices and claret for a delightful and flavorful beverage.
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups Boiling water
- 12 sprigs Fresh mint sprigs
- 1 quart Water
- 1 cup Sugar (Adjust to taste)
- 1 cup Mixed fruit juices (Orange, pineapple, cranberry, etc.)
- 1 bottle Claret wine (750ml bottle)
- 2 cups Water (For dilution, adjust to taste)
- 0.25 cup Fresh mint leaves (For garnish)
- 1 pint Whole strawberries (For garnish)
- 1 large piece Ice
Instructions
- 1In a saucepan, combine 1 quart of water and 1 cup of sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the syrup has slightly thickened. Remove from heat.
- 2Separate the mint sprigs into pieces. Add the mint to 1½ cups of boiling water. Cover and let stand in a warm place for 5 minutes.
- 3Strain the mint-infused water to remove the mint leaves. Add the strained mint water to the syrup. Add the mixed fruit juices and stir to combine. Let cool completely.
- 4Pour the cooled syrup mixture into a punch bowl. Add the claret wine and stir gently. Add a large piece of ice to chill the punch. Dilute with water to taste, if desired.
- 5Garnish the punch with fresh mint leaves and whole strawberries. Serve chilled.
