Milled Chocolate Drink
A warm and frothy chocolate drink made with scalded milk and a cocoa paste, finished with a frothy top.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Water (For boiling)
- 1 cup Milk (Whole milk recommended)
- 0.125 tsp Salt (Pinch of salt)
- 2 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 tbsp Sugar (Adjust to taste)
Instructions
- 1In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it just begins to simmer and small bubbles form around the edges. Do not boil. Remove from heat.
- 2In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Add 1/4 cup of boiling water (from the 1 cup) and stir until a smooth paste forms.
- 3Add the remaining 3/4 cup of boiling water to the cocoa paste and stir well. Transfer to a saucepan and bring to a boil, then boil for 1 minute.
- 4Pour the boiled cocoa mixture into the scalded milk. Beat vigorously for 2 minutes using a whisk or electric mixer until a froth forms.
- 5Pour into mugs and serve immediately. The froth will help prevent a skin from forming.
