Lemon Butter Sauce
A simple and bright lemon butter sauce, perfect for drizzling over vegetables, fish, or pasta.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Water (Boiling)
- 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1.5 tablespoons Lemon juice (Freshly squeezed)
- 0.125 teaspoon Nutmeg (Freshly grated)
- 0.0625 teaspoon Salt (Pinch)
Instructions
- 1In a small saucepan, whisk together the sugar and cornstarch until well combined. This prevents lumps from forming when you add the water.
- 2Gradually add the boiling water to the saucepan, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue whisking until the mixture is smooth. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- 3Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the butter, lemon juice, nutmeg, and salt until the butter is melted and the sauce is smooth and emulsified. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
- 4Serve the lemon butter sauce immediately over your favorite dishes. It's delicious over steamed vegetables, grilled fish, or pasta.
