Ivory Cream

A simple dessert cream made with gelatin and water.

Ingredients

  • 0.75 tablespoon Granulated Gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon Cold Water
  • 0.25 cup Granulated Sugar (Adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Optional)

Instructions

  1. 1In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom (soften).
  2. 2In a saucepan, combine the milk and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is dissolved and the milk is warm but not boiling. Do not boil.
  3. 3Remove the milk mixture from the heat. Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm milk and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Stir in vanilla extract, if using.
  4. 4Pour the mixture into individual serving dishes or a mold. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until set.
