Hard-Boiled Egg Yolk Balls
A classic recipe for creating savory egg yolk balls, perfect as a garnish or addition to soups.
Ingredients
- 2 Hard-boiled egg yolks
- 0.125 teaspoon Salt
- 0.0625 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (Pinch)
- 0.5 teaspoon Melted butter
- 1 Raw egg yolk (As needed)
- 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour (For rolling)
- 1 tablespoon Butter (For sautéing)
Instructions
- 1Carefully push the hard-boiled egg yolks through a fine-mesh sieve into a small bowl. This will create a smooth, fine texture.
- 2Add salt and cayenne pepper to the sieved egg yolks. Mix well to combine.
- 3Add the melted butter and a small amount of raw egg yolk to the mixture, mixing until you achieve a consistency that can be easily handled and shaped. Form the mixture into small balls, about 1/2 inch in diameter.
- 4Gently roll each egg yolk ball in flour, ensuring they are lightly coated on all sides.
- 5Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Once melted and hot, carefully place the flour-coated egg yolk balls into the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly golden brown on all sides.
- 6Serve the sautéed egg yolk balls hot in Brown Soup Stock, Consommé, or Mock Turtle Soup. They can also be served as a garnish for other dishes.
