Grilled Sardines with Maître d’Hôtel Butter

A simple and elegant way to prepare sardines, served on toast with a flavorful butter sauce.

Ingredients

  • 6 sardines Sardines in olive oil (Drained)
  • 2 slices Slices of bread (For toast)
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (Softened)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley (Finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 0.125 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
  • 0.125 teaspoon Black pepper (To taste)

Instructions

  1. 1In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, chopped parsley, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated. Set aside.
  2. 2Toast the bread slices until golden brown and crisp. Cut each slice into oblong pieces.
  3. 3Drain the sardines from their oil. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Grill the sardines for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until heated through and slightly browned, turning frequently.
  4. 4Place the grilled sardines on the prepared toast pieces. Top each sardine with a generous dollop of Maître d’Hôtel butter. Serve immediately.
