Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Baker's unsweetened chocolate (Grated)
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter (Softened)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 1.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cream of tartar
  • 2 Eggs (Whites only)

Instructions

  1. 1Grate the Baker's chocolate using a grater or food processor. Set aside.
  2. 2In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. 3Gradually add the milk to the creamed butter and sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. 4In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter. Then, fold in the grated chocolate until evenly distributed.
  5. 5Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. 6Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely. Serve and enjoy!
