Fondant Icing
A simple recipe for making fondant icing to dip small cakes. Includes a glaze recipe to prepare the cakes for dipping.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Powdered Sugar (For the fondant icing)
- 0.5 cup Water (For the fondant icing)
- 1 Egg White (For the glaze)
- 1 tablespoon Powdered Sugar (For the glaze)
Instructions
- 1In a saucepan, combine the powdered sugar and water. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Do not boil.
- 2In a small bowl, beat the egg white slightly. Add the powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
- 3Apply the glaze to the top and sides of the cakes using a brush. Let the glaze set completely before dipping in fondant.
- 4Dip the glazed cakes into the warm fondant icing. Allow excess fondant to drip off. Place the dipped cakes on a wire rack to set.
