Fig and Prune Dessert

A chilled dessert featuring figs, prunes, and whipped cream, perfect for a light and refreshing treat.

Ingredients

  • 0.33 cup Dried Figs (Chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon Gelatine
  • 0.25 cup Cold Water (For soaking gelatine)
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 0.5 cup Sugar
  • 2 Egg Whites (From large eggs)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 0.5 cup Milk (For diluting cream)
  • 0.5 cup Pitted Prunes (Chopped)

Instructions

  1. 1Soak the gelatine in cold water for 5 minutes to soften.
  2. 2Scald the milk in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add the softened gelatine and sugar. Stir until the gelatine and sugar are completely dissolved.
  3. 3Strain the mixture into a bowl set in a larger bowl filled with ice water. Stir constantly until the mixture begins to thicken.
  4. 4In separate bowls, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Dilute the whipped cream with milk and beat again briefly.
  5. 5Gently fold the beaten egg whites and diluted whipped cream into the thickening gelatine mixture. Then, fold in the chopped prunes and figs.
  6. 6Pour the mixture into a mold or individual serving dishes. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until set.
