Cream Sauce with Bread Crumbs
A simple cream sauce thickened with bread crumbs, perfect for vegetables or pasta.
Ingredients
- 0.67 cup Stale bread crumbs (Use plain bread crumbs for best results.)
- 0.25 small Onion (Finely chopped)
- 1 sprig Fresh parsley (Finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Unsalted)
- 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
- 0.125 teaspoon Black pepper (Freshly ground, or to taste)
Instructions
- 1Finely chop the onion and parsley. Measure out the bread crumbs, flour, cream, salt, and pepper.
- 2In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes until a smooth paste (roux) forms.
- 3Gradually whisk in the cream, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Add the bread crumbs, onion, parsley, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
- 4Serve the cream sauce warm over vegetables, pasta, or other dishes.
