Cream Maple Sugar Frosting

A simple and delicious frosting made with maple sugar and cream, perfect for cakes and cookies.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 lb Maple sugar (Soft maple sugar, broken into small pieces)
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream

Instructions

  1. 1In a medium saucepan, combine the maple sugar and heavy cream.
  2. 2Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the maple sugar is completely dissolved. Once dissolved, bring the mixture to a boil and continue to boil without stirring until a small amount of the mixture, when dropped into a bowl of cold water, forms a soft ball (about 10-15 minutes). Use a candy thermometer to reach 235-240°F.
  3. 3Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool slightly for a few minutes. Then, using an electric mixer or a sturdy spoon, beat the frosting until it thickens and reaches a spreadable consistency. This may take a few minutes.
  4. 4Spread the frosting immediately onto your cake or cookies. Enjoy!
