Classic Waffles
A simple and delicious recipe for classic waffles, perfect for breakfast or brunch. Serve with your favorite toppings like maple syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 2 cups All-purpose flour (Original recipe calls for 1 3/4 cups, adjusted for modern portions)
- 4 teaspoons Baking powder
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt
- 1.5 cups Milk
- 2 Eggs (Separated)
- 2 tablespoons Melted butter

Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 2In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg yolks. Stir in the melted butter.
- 3In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- 4Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 5Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until just combined. Be careful not to deflate the egg whites.
- 6Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. Grease the waffle iron lightly with cooking spray or melted butter. Pour the batter onto the hot waffle iron, using about 1/2 cup of batter per waffle. Cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per waffle.
