Chocolate Cream
A simple and classic chocolate cream dessert, perfect for a light and satisfying treat.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Milk (Whole milk recommended for richness)
- 5 tablespoons Cornstarch
- 0.5 cup Sugar (Granulated sugar)
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt
- 0.333 cup Cold Milk
- 2 ounces Unsweetened Chocolate (Chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Optional)
Instructions
- 1In a saucepan, heat 2 cups of milk over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not boil.
- 2In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and 1/3 cup of cold milk until smooth.
- 3Gradually whisk the cornstarch slurry into the scalded milk. Add the sugar and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute more, stirring constantly.
- 4Remove from heat and stir in the chopped chocolate until melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla extract, if using.
- 5Pour the chocolate cream into individual serving dishes or a single bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill completely.
