Caramel Syrup
A simple caramel syrup made by melting sugar and adding boiling water, perfect for desserts and drinks.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar (For caramelizing)
- 0.5 cup Boiling Water
Instructions
- 1Place the sugar in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly with a heat-resistant spatula or spoon, until the sugar melts and turns into a golden amber color. Be careful not to burn the sugar.
- 2Carefully pour the boiling water into the melted sugar. The mixture will bubble vigorously. Stir constantly until the caramel is smooth and the water is fully incorporated.
- 3Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the syrup thickens slightly.
- 4Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely before serving. The syrup will thicken further as it cools. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
