Brown Sugar Frosting
A simple and delicious frosting made with brown sugar for a rich, caramel-like flavor. This recipe is based on the classic boiled frosting method, adapted for modern kitchens.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Egg White
- 1.5 tablespoons Water
- 0.125 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
- 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Instructions
- 1In the top of a double boiler, or a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, combine the brown sugar, egg whites, water, and cream of tartar.
- 2Place the double boiler over medium heat (or the heatproof bowl over simmering water). Whisk constantly until the frosting forms stiff peaks and holds its shape, about 6-8 minutes. The frosting should be smooth and glossy.
- 3Remove the frosting from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- 4Use immediately to frost cakes or cupcakes. The frosting will set as it cools.
