Brewing Filter Coffee
A simple guide to brewing filter coffee using a coffee pot and strainer.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Water (For boiling)
- 2 tablespoons Ground coffee (Medium grind)
- 2 teaspoons Sugar (Or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons Cream (Or milk, or scalded milk)
Instructions
- 1Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan.
- 2Place the ground coffee in the strainer. Place the strainer inside the coffee pot. Place the coffee pot on the stove or a heat-safe surface.
- 3Gradually add the boiling water to the coffee grounds in the strainer, allowing it to filter through. Cover the coffee pot between additions of water to retain heat. If you desire a stronger brew, re-filter the coffee by pouring it back through the grounds.
- 4Serve the coffee immediately with cut sugar and cream. For best flavor, put sugar and cream in the cup before adding the hot coffee. If cream is not available, scalded milk may be substituted, or a mixture of milk and cream can be used for a diluted cup of coffee.
