Bread Griddle Cakes
A simple recipe for making griddle cakes using bread, likely stale or leftover. These would be similar to a simple pancake or fritter.
Ingredients
- 4 slices Stale Bread (Can use any type of bread)
- 0.5 cup Milk (To soak the bread)
- 1 Egg (Optional, for richness)
- 1 tablespoon Sugar (Or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (For frying)
Instructions
- 1Tear or cut the bread into small pieces and soak in milk until softened. This should take about 5 minutes.
- 2In a bowl, mash the soaked bread with a fork. Add the egg (if using) and sugar. Mix well to form a batter.
- 3Heat butter in a frying pan or griddle over medium heat. Drop spoonfuls of the bread batter onto the hot surface. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 4Serve the bread griddle cakes warm. They can be enjoyed plain or with toppings like syrup, fruit, or jam.
