Boiled Green Corn

Boiled Green Corn

A simple recipe for boiling fresh green corn on the cob, perfect as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 ears Fresh Green Corn on the Cob (Choose ears with plump kernels and fresh green husks.)
  • 6 cups Water (Enough to cover the corn.)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (For serving.)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste, for serving.)

Instructions

  1. 1Remove the husks and silky threads from the corn. Rinse the ears under cold water to remove any remaining debris.
  2. 2In a large pot, bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat. Carefully place the corn into the boiling water. Ensure the corn is fully submerged; add more water if needed.
  3. 3Cook the corn for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the freshness and tenderness of the corn. Check for doneness by piercing a kernel with a fork; it should be tender and release milky juice. Start checking at 10 minutes.
  4. 4Remove the corn from the pot using tongs. Place on a platter and cover with a clean napkin to keep warm. Alternatively, cut the kernels from the cob and season with butter and salt to taste. Serve immediately.
