Boiled Green Corn
A simple recipe for boiling fresh green corn on the cob, perfect as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 4 ears Fresh Green Corn on the Cob (Choose ears with plump kernels and fresh green husks.)
- 6 cups Water (Enough to cover the corn.)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (For serving.)
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste, for serving.)
Instructions
- 1Remove the husks and silky threads from the corn. Rinse the ears under cold water to remove any remaining debris.
- 2In a large pot, bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat. Carefully place the corn into the boiling water. Ensure the corn is fully submerged; add more water if needed.
- 3Cook the corn for 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the freshness and tenderness of the corn. Check for doneness by piercing a kernel with a fork; it should be tender and release milky juice. Start checking at 10 minutes.
- 4Remove the corn from the pot using tongs. Place on a platter and cover with a clean napkin to keep warm. Alternatively, cut the kernels from the cob and season with butter and salt to taste. Serve immediately.
