Beaten Fried Drop Cakes
These are small, sweet cakes that are fried until golden brown. The recipe follows the method for Fried Drop Cakes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Flour
- 0.25 cup Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 0.5 cup Milk
- 2 tablespoons Butter, melted
- 2 cups Oil, for frying (Vegetable or canola oil)
Instructions
- 1In a bowl, combine the flour and sugar.
- 2In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 3Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- 4Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Do not overcrowd the pot.
- 5Remove the fried cakes with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm.
