A simple and delicious way to prepare winter squash, baked with molasses and butter for a sweet and savory flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium Winter Squash (Butternut, Acorn, or similar) (About 2-3 pounds)
  • 2 teaspoons Molasses (1/2 teaspoon per square, assuming 4 squares)
  • 2 teaspoons Butter, melted (1/2 teaspoon per square, assuming 4 squares)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
  • 0.125 teaspoon Black Pepper (To taste)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash the winter squash thoroughly. Cut the squash into quarters or eighths, depending on size, aiming for pieces roughly two inches square. Remove the seeds and stringy portion from each piece using a spoon.
  2. 2Place the squash pieces in a baking dish or on a baking sheet with sides. Sprinkle each piece with salt and pepper. Drizzle each piece with 1/2 teaspoon of molasses and 1/2 teaspoon of melted butter.
  3. 3Cover the baking dish with foil. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the squash is soft and easily pierced with a fork.
  4. 4Serve the baked winter squash warm, directly from the shell or scooped out into a serving dish.
