Baked Sweet Apples
A simple and comforting dessert of baked sweet apples, filled with sugar and baked until tender.
Ingredients
- 4 medium Sweet Apples (Such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
- 0.33 cup Granulated Sugar (Or substitute with 1/3 cup molasses)
- 0.66 cup Water (Boiling)
- 0.5 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon (Optional)
- 1 tablespoon Butter (Optional, cut into small pieces)
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Wash and core the apples, removing the core from the top, leaving the bottom intact.
- 2Place the apples in a baking dish. Fill the cavities of each apple with approximately 2 tablespoons of sugar. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Dot with butter if desired.
- 3Pour boiling water into the baking dish around the apples. Cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 3 hours, or until the apples are very tender. Check the water level periodically and add more if necessary to prevent the apples from drying out.
- 4Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, with a spoon to scoop out the soft apple and juices.
