Baked Peaches with Buttered Toast
A simple and elegant dessert of baked peaches with a hint of lemon and nutmeg, served on buttered toast.
Ingredients
- 6 medium Peaches (Choose ripe but firm peaches)
- 6 teaspoons Granulated sugar
- 3 teaspoons Unsalted butter (Cut into small pieces)
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
- 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- 6 slices Bread slices (Use your favorite type of bread)
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter (For buttering the toast)
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash the peaches thoroughly. Peel the peaches, cut them in half, and remove the stones.
- 2Place the peach halves in a shallow baking dish. Fill each cavity with 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of butter, a few drops of lemon juice, and a slight grating of nutmeg.
- 3Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the peaches are tender and slightly caramelized.
- 4While the peaches are baking, toast the bread slices until golden brown. Spread butter evenly on each slice of toast.
- 5Serve the baked peaches warm on top of the buttered toast. Optionally, drizzle with a little extra melted butter or a dollop of whipped cream.
