Baked Peaches with Buttered Toast

A simple and elegant dessert of baked peaches with a hint of lemon and nutmeg, served on buttered toast.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium Peaches (Choose ripe but firm peaches)
  • 6 teaspoons Granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons Unsalted butter (Cut into small pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 6 slices Bread slices (Use your favorite type of bread)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter (For buttering the toast)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash the peaches thoroughly. Peel the peaches, cut them in half, and remove the stones.
  2. 2Place the peach halves in a shallow baking dish. Fill each cavity with 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of butter, a few drops of lemon juice, and a slight grating of nutmeg.
  3. 3Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the peaches are tender and slightly caramelized.
  4. 4While the peaches are baking, toast the bread slices until golden brown. Spread butter evenly on each slice of toast.
  5. 5Serve the baked peaches warm on top of the buttered toast. Optionally, drizzle with a little extra melted butter or a dollop of whipped cream.
