Lightning Omelette

Lightning Omelette

A quick and easy baked omelette with bread and Gruyere cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Butter (For greasing the baking dish)
  • 2 slices Stale bread (Brown bread preferred)
  • 0.25 cup Milk (For dipping the bread)
  • 2 ounces Gruyere cheese (Thinly sliced)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
  • 0.125 teaspoon Black pepper (To taste)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter a small baking dish (approximately 6-inch square).
  2. 2Dip the slices of stale bread in milk until lightly soaked.
  3. 3Place the milk-soaked bread in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with a layer of very thin slices of Gruyere cheese.
  4. 4In a bowl, beat the eggs until frothy. Add salt and pepper and mix well.
  5. 5Pour the egg mixture over the bread and cheese in the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven until the top is browned and the eggs are set, about 20 minutes.
  6. 6Serve hot.
