Fish Broth (Brodo di Pesce)
A simple and flavorful fish broth made with fresh cod or other lean fish, perfect as a base for soups and sauces.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Fresh cod fillets (Or any other lean white fish)
- 4 cups Water
- 1 medium Onion (Peeled and quartered)
- 0.25 cup Fresh parsley (Chopped)
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
- 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper (Or to taste)
Instructions
- 1Rinse the cod fillets under cold water. Quarter the onion and chop the parsley.
- 2In a large pot, combine the cod fillets, water, quartered onion, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
- 3Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes, or until the fish is thoroughly cooked and flakes easily with a fork.
- 4Carefully strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the solids. Discard the solids. Serve the broth hot.
