Baked Codfish with White Wine Sauce

A simple and elegant baked codfish recipe with a delicate white wine and lemon sauce.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 lb Fresh Codfish Fillets (Skinless and boneless)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (Divided)
  • 0.25 tsp Salt (Or to taste)
  • 0.125 tsp Black Pepper (Freshly ground, or to taste)
  • 0.25 cup Dry White Wine (Such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 1 tsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice (Freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley (Chopped)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter.
  2. 2Place the codfish fillets in the prepared baking dish. Dot with the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Season with salt and pepper. Pour the white wine over the fish. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  3. 3While the fish is baking, pour the juices from the baking dish into a small saucepan. Add the flour and whisk until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice and chopped parsley. Remove from heat.
  4. 4Place the baked codfish on a platter and pour the sauce over the fish. Serve immediately.
