Curried Sardines
A simple recipe for curried sardines served on bread with apple garnish.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoonful Sugar
- 1 teaspoonful Curry powder
- 1 saltspoonful Salt
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoonful Lemon juice
- 10 or 12 Sardines
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))

- 1 medium Tart apples (Quantity estimated (not specified in original recipe))
Instructions
- 1In a small saucepan, mix together the sugar, curry powder, and salt. Add the cream and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- 2Gently place the sardines into the hot sauce. Heat through for about 2-3 minutes, until warmed.
- 3In a separate pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the bread, cut into bite-sized pieces, and sauté until golden brown. Core the apples and slice them into rounds. Sauté the apple slices in the same pan until slightly softened.
- 4Place each sardine on a piece of the toasted bread. Pour a little of the sauce over the top and garnish with a round of the sautéed apple. Serve immediately.
