Wine Sauce No. 2
A simple wine sauce.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pint Water
- 1 cupful Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoonful Cornstarch
- 1 teaspoonful Royal Extract Bitter Almonds
- 1 teaspoonful Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 cupful White Wine
- 2 tablespoonfuls Granulated Sugar
- 1 tablespoonful Water
Instructions
- 1In a thick saucepan, stir 2 tablespoonfuls of sugar with 1 tablespoonful of water over medium heat until the sugar turns very dark, but not burned. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
- 2Carefully add the 1/2 pint of boiling water to the caramel (be cautious as it will bubble up). Add the remaining 1 cupful of sugar and the cornstarch, which has been dissolved in a small amount of water. Boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3When about to serve, strain the sauce. Add the Royal Extract Bitter Almonds, Vanilla Extract, and white wine. Stir to combine.
