Wine Sauce No. 2

A simple wine sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pint Water
  • 1 cupful Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoonful Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoonful Royal Extract Bitter Almonds
  • 1 teaspoonful Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cupful White Wine
  • 2 tablespoonfuls Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoonful Water

Instructions

  1. 1In a thick saucepan, stir 2 tablespoonfuls of sugar with 1 tablespoonful of water over medium heat until the sugar turns very dark, but not burned. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  2. 2Carefully add the 1/2 pint of boiling water to the caramel (be cautious as it will bubble up). Add the remaining 1 cupful of sugar and the cornstarch, which has been dissolved in a small amount of water. Boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. 3When about to serve, strain the sauce. Add the Royal Extract Bitter Almonds, Vanilla Extract, and white wine. Stir to combine.
