Vanilla Sauce

A classic vanilla sauce recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pint Milk
  • 3 Egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoonful Royal Extract Vanilla
  • 3 Egg whites

Instructions

  1. 1Pour 1/2 pint milk into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until scalding hot (small bubbles form around the edges).
  2. 2In a separate bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks. Slowly temper the hot milk into the egg yolks, whisking constantly to prevent curdling. Return the mixture to the saucepan.
  3. 3Stir the mixture constantly over low heat until it thickens to the consistency of a custard, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to boil.
  4. 4Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool slightly. Stir in 1 tablespoonful of Royal Extract Vanilla. In a separate clean bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the vanilla sauce.
