Vanilla Sauce
A classic vanilla sauce recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 pint Milk
- 3 Egg yolks
- 1 tablespoonful Royal Extract Vanilla
- 3 Egg whites
Instructions
- 1Pour 1/2 pint milk into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until scalding hot (small bubbles form around the edges).
- 2In a separate bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks. Slowly temper the hot milk into the egg yolks, whisking constantly to prevent curdling. Return the mixture to the saucepan.
- 3Stir the mixture constantly over low heat until it thickens to the consistency of a custard, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to boil.
- 4Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool slightly. Stir in 1 tablespoonful of Royal Extract Vanilla. In a separate clean bowl, whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the vanilla sauce.
