Transparent Icing

A simple icing recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Pulverized white sugar
  • 1/2 pint Water
  • 2 tablespoonfuls Vanilla extract (Originally Royal Extract Vanilla.)

Instructions

  1. 1Place 1 pound pulverized white sugar in a basin. Add 1/2 pint water.
  2. 2Boil the sugar and water mixture until it reaches a consistency similar to mucilage.
  3. 3Rub the sugar mixture against the sides of the pan with a wooden spatula until it turns white and milky.
  4. 4Stir in two tablespoonfuls of vanilla extract and mix well.
  5. 5Pour the icing while it is still hot over the top of the cake, ensuring it completely covers the surface.
