To Mash Potatoes
A simple recipe for mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- Potatoes
- Butter
- Milk
- Salt
Instructions
- 1Peel the potatoes and place them in cold water for 1 hour.
- 2Place the potatoes in a saucepan with a little salt, cover with water, and boil until done. (Approximately 1/2 hour, or 3/4 of an hour if the potatoes are large).
- 3Drain the water from the potatoes, put them into a bowl, and mash them finely.
- 4Melt a piece of butter (size of a large egg) with a little milk. Mix it well with the mashed potatoes until they are a smooth paste, taking care the potatoes are not too wet.
- 5Put the mash into a dish, piled up; smooth with a knife to serve; or may be improved by browning them in the oven.
