Sweet Potato Pie

A classic sweet potato pie recipe.

Ingredients

  • as needed Sweet potatoes
  • as needed Flour
  • 2 tablespoonfuls Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoonful Butter
  • 1/2 teacup Water
  • as needed Sugar
  • as needed Nutmeg or allspice

Instructions

  1. 1Take large sweet potatoes and steam until they are soft. Slice thinly.
  2. 2Prepare pastry in the usual way (recipe not provided, assume standard pie crust).
  3. 3Lay the sliced sweet potatoes in a deep pie-pan. Sprinkle some flour over them, add vinegar, butter, water, sugar, and nutmeg or allspice to suit taste.
  4. 4Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set. Sweet potato pies should be eaten warm.
