Sweet Potato Pie
A classic sweet potato pie recipe.
Ingredients
- as needed Sweet potatoes
- as needed Flour
- 2 tablespoonfuls Vinegar
- 1 teaspoonful Butter
- 1/2 teacup Water
- as needed Sugar
- as needed Nutmeg or allspice
Instructions
- 1Take large sweet potatoes and steam until they are soft. Slice thinly.
- 2Prepare pastry in the usual way (recipe not provided, assume standard pie crust).
- 3Lay the sliced sweet potatoes in a deep pie-pan. Sprinkle some flour over them, add vinegar, butter, water, sugar, and nutmeg or allspice to suit taste.
- 4Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set. Sweet potato pies should be eaten warm.
