Stewed Tomatoes, Plain
A simple recipe for stewed tomatoes.
Ingredients
- 1 can Canned tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Butter
Instructions
- 1Open a can of tomatoes and let them sit for 1 hour before cooking.
- 2Remove any cores from the tomatoes. Cook in a tin or porcelain saucepan. Stew gently for 40 minutes.
- 3Season to taste with salt, pepper, and sugar (if desired). Add butter. Cook gently, uncovered, for 10 minutes longer, and turn into a deep dish.
