Stewed Tomatoes, Plain

A simple recipe for stewed tomatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Canned tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Instructions

  1. 1Open a can of tomatoes and let them sit for 1 hour before cooking.
  2. 2Remove any cores from the tomatoes. Cook in a tin or porcelain saucepan. Stew gently for 40 minutes.
  3. 3Season to taste with salt, pepper, and sugar (if desired). Add butter. Cook gently, uncovered, for 10 minutes longer, and turn into a deep dish.
