Stew, Irish
A traditional Irish stew recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 pounds Mutton chops
- 8 Potatoes
- 4 Turnips
- 4 Small onions
- 1 quart Water
Instructions
- 1Slice the potatoes. Cut the turnips and onions into pieces.
- 2In a stewpan, place the mutton chops in alternate layers with the sliced potatoes. Add the turnips and onions.
- 3Pour in nearly a quart of cold water. Cover the stewpan closely and let it stew gently until the vegetables are ready to mash and the greater part of the gravy is absorbed.
- 4Place the stew in a dish and serve it hot.
