Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pounds Mutton chops
  • 8 Potatoes
  • 4 Turnips
  • 4 Small onions
  • 1 quart Water

Instructions

  1. 1Slice the potatoes. Cut the turnips and onions into pieces.
  2. 2In a stewpan, place the mutton chops in alternate layers with the sliced potatoes. Add the turnips and onions.
  3. 3Pour in nearly a quart of cold water. Cover the stewpan closely and let it stew gently until the vegetables are ready to mash and the greater part of the gravy is absorbed.
  4. 4Place the stew in a dish and serve it hot.
