Spice Cake
A classic spice cake recipe from 1888, featuring a blend of warm spices and a rich, buttery flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Butter
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 cups Flour
- 2 teaspoons Royal Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon Caraway Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Coriander Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Royal Extract Nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Extract
- 1 teaspoon Ginger Extract
- 1 cup Milk
Instructions
- 1Sift together the flour, brown sugar, and Royal Baking Powder in a large bowl.
- 2Rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the milk, caraway seeds, coriander seeds, Royal Extract Nutmeg, Cinnamon, and Ginger. Mix until smooth, creating a batter of medium thickness.
- 3Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease patié pans and fill them 2/3 full with the batter. Bake in the hot oven for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
