Soft Waffles

Soft Waffles

A recipe for soft waffles from the Royal Baker Pastry Cook.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Royal Baking Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 1/2 pints Milk
  • as needed Sugar

Instructions

  1. 1Sift together flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Rub in the butter until cold. Add the beaten eggs and milk. Mix into a smooth, consistent batter that will run easily from the mouth of a pitcher.
  2. 2Heat a waffle iron and grease it carefully each time before adding batter. Fill the iron about 2/3 full. Close the iron and cook until the waffles are brown, then flip to cook the other side. Remove the waffles and sift sugar on them. Serve hot.
