Rexford Sauce

Rexford Sauce

A classic sauce recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoonful Cornstarch
  • 1 cupful Water
  • 2/3 cupful Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cupful Cider
  • 1 tablespoonful Butter
  • 2 count Egg yolks

Instructions

  1. 1In a small bowl, dissolve 1 teaspoonful of cornstarch in a little water.
  2. 2Add the cornstarch mixture to one cupful of boiling water with 2/3 cupful of brown sugar. Boil for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. 3Remove from heat. Add 1/2 cupful of cider (scalding hot), 1 large tablespoonful of butter, and 2 egg yolks. Stir until combined.
