Quince and Apple Preserves

A classic preserve recipe using quinces and apples.

Ingredients

  • 1 equal amount Sweet apples
  • 1 equal amount Quinces
  • 1 equal amount by weight Granulated sugar
  • as needed Water

Instructions

  1. 1Weigh the apples and quinces. Pare, quarter, and core the fruit.
  2. 2Place the quinces in a pot with water and cook until tender. Remove the quinces from the water.
  3. 3Boil the apples in the quince water. Add the sugar and let them boil until they look red and clear. This may take about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  4. 4Layer the cooked apples into jars with the cooked quinces. Pour the syrup over them.
