Quince and Apple Preserves
A classic preserve recipe using quinces and apples.
Ingredients
- 1 equal amount Sweet apples
- 1 equal amount Quinces
- 1 equal amount by weight Granulated sugar
- as needed Water
Instructions
- 1Weigh the apples and quinces. Pare, quarter, and core the fruit.
- 2Place the quinces in a pot with water and cook until tender. Remove the quinces from the water.
- 3Boil the apples in the quince water. Add the sugar and let them boil until they look red and clear. This may take about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- 4Layer the cooked apples into jars with the cooked quinces. Pour the syrup over them.
