Oyster Stew

A simple oyster stew recipe.

Ingredients

  • as needed Oysters
  • as needed Water
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste Salt
  • as needed Milk (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Place the oysters with their liquor in a stewpan. Add a little water if there isn't enough liquor.
  2. 2Add 1 tablespoon of butter, pepper, and salt to taste. Cover the stewpan and place over heat. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  3. 3If you prefer milk, cover the bottom of the soup plates with cold milk before serving the stew. For well-done oysters, boil the stew for 5 minutes.
