Oyster Dressing

A savory dressing featuring oysters, perfect for a special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoonfuls All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoonfuls Butter
  • as needed Water
  • 1 pint Oysters, chopped
  • to taste Black pepper
  • to taste Salt

Instructions

  1. 1In a dripper or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly until the mixture turns light brown, about 3-5 minutes. This is the roux.
  2. 2Gradually whisk in water to the roux until it reaches a thin gravy consistency. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. 3Add the chopped oysters to the boiling gravy. Season with pepper and salt to taste. Simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the oysters are cooked through.
