Open Jam Tart

A simple open-faced tart filled with jam and decorated with pastry strips.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Puff pastry
  • 1 cup Jam
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a shallow tin dish with puff pastry. Spread the jam evenly over the pastry.
  2. 2Roll out some of the puff pastry. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk, milk, and powdered sugar. Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash. Cut the rolled-out pastry into very narrow strips. Lay the strips across the tart in a lattice pattern. Lay another strip of pastry around the edge of the tart. Trim off any excess pastry.
  3. 3Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the jam is bubbling.
