Mangoes
A historical recipe for preserving small musk melons.
Ingredients
- as needed Musk melons
- as needed Onion
- as needed Horseradish (Scraped horseradish)
- as needed Mustard seeds
- as needed Cloves
- as needed Whole pepper
- as needed Vinegar
- as needed Salt
Instructions
- 1Take small musk melons and cut an oval piece out of one side. Use a teaspoon to remove the seeds.
- 2Fill the space in the melon with a stuffing made of chopped onion, scraped horseradish, mustard seeds, cloves, and whole pepper. Sew the oval piece back in place.
- 3Put the stuffed melons in a jar. Pour boiling vinegar with a little salt over them. Repeat this process 3 times, then put in fresh vinegar and cover the jar tightly.
