Leg of Mutton Roasted

A classic recipe for roasting a leg of mutton.

Ingredients

  • 1 leg Leg of Mutton
  • as needed Flour
  • as needed Black Pepper
  • as needed Salt
  • as needed Water

Instructions

  1. 1Wipe the leg of mutton very dry. Dust it with flour and pepper. Cut off the knuckle, remove the thick skin, and trim off any thick flank.
  2. 2Place a little salt and water in the dripping pan. Baste the joint with this for a short time. Then, use the gravy from the meat itself, basting every 10 minutes. Roast for 20 minutes per pound of mutton at 325°F (160°C).
  3. 3Serve the roasted leg of mutton with the gravy poured around it.
