Ice Cream Candy
A simple candy recipe from 1888.
Ingredients
- 3 cups Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup White Vinegar (A little less than 1/2 cup)
- 1 1/2 cups Cold Water
- piece size of a walnut Butter
- to taste Vanilla Extract (Originally Extract Royal Vanilla. Substituted with Vanilla Extract for modern preference.)
Instructions
- 1In a saucepan, combine the sugar, vinegar, and cold water. Add a piece of butter the size of a walnut. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
- 2Continue boiling the mixture until it hardens. Add vanilla extract to taste.
- 3Once the candy hardens, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly. Then, pull the candy until it turns white.
