Gravy for Turkey
A classic gravy recipe using turkey giblets and drippings.
Ingredients
- 1 set Turkey giblets
- 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 2 tablespoons Turkey drippings
Instructions
- 1Place the turkey giblets in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for approximately 30 minutes, or until the giblets are very tender. Remove the giblets from the cooking liquid and set aside to cool. Reserve the cooking liquid.
- 2Once the giblets have cooled, chop them finely.
- 3In a saucepan, take the reserved giblet cooking liquid and bring to a simmer. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour with a little cold water to make a slurry. Gradually whisk the slurry into the simmering liquid until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in the butter and chopped giblets. Finally, add the turkey drippings and stir to combine.
