Ginger Snaps
A classic spiced cookie with a crisp texture and warm ginger flavor.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup Lard
- 0.5 cup Butter
- 1 cup Brown Sugar (Large cupful)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 tablespoon Royal Extract Ginger
- 1 teaspoon Royal Extract Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Royal Extract Cloves
- 1 quart Flour
- 1.75 teaspoons Royal Baking Powder
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, rub together 1/2 cupful lard, 1/2 cupful butter, and 1 large cupful brown sugar until a smooth paste forms.
- 2Sift together 1 quart flour and 1 3/4 teaspoonfuls Royal Baking Powder. Then, rub the lard, butter, and sugar paste into the flour and baking powder mixture until well combined.
- 3Add 1 cupful water, 1 tablespoonful Royal Extract Ginger, 1 teaspoonful Royal Extract Cinnamon, and 1 teaspoonful Royal Extract Cloves to the mixture. Mix until a firm dough forms.
- 4Roll out the dough thinly on a floured board. Cut out cookies using a round biscuit cutter.
- 5Preheat oven to a hot, steady oven (400°F or 200°C). Place the cut-out cookies on a greased pan and bake for 8 minutes.
