Fried Parsnips
A simple recipe for fried parsnips.
Ingredients
- Parsnips
- Flour
- Butter (or vegetable shortening or neutral oil) (Originally lard or dripping. Substituted with butter, vegetable shortening, or neutral oil for modern preference.)
- Salt
- Water
Instructions
- 1Scrape the parsnips. Cut them into long slices.
- 2Boil the parsnip slices in a little hot water, salted, until tender.
- 3Dredge the parsnip slices with flour. Fry them in hot butter, vegetable shortening, or neutral oil until golden brown. Drain off the excess fat.
- 4Serve immediately.
